National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research invites eligible and interested candidates for appearing in Walk-in for the following posts on a contract basis in research facilities.
Animal Care Research Centre (ACRC) and Mouse Genome Engineering facilities (MGEF) are looking for Facility Assistants and Associates at various levels.
The appointment will be a fixed-term position initially for one (1) year and renewable annually subject to the outcome of a performance assessment. The position comes with consolidated pay based on qualification and experience, subject to institutional guidelines.
Essential :
1 ) Master's Degree in Life Science/ BE in Biotech from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate.
Consolidated Salary: Salary will commensurate with experience and qualification.
For ACRC:
- Oversee the routine animal husbandry and welfare activities of animal care takers/support staff and students.
- Assist Veterinarian in providing orientation and training of new students/animal users/care taker staff in proper use of Animal facility, humane handling of animals, implement the SOPs and assist on-going research work.
- Training and Assisting the users in surgical procedures, anaesthesia, analgesia, breeding and maintenance of animal colonies; weaning, sexing, tail biopsies for genotyping, producing timed pregnant females, packing live animal shipments for export, receiving live animal shipments, quarantine procedures, euthanasia etc.
- Assist Veterinarian in the process of import and export of live laboratory animals, quarterly animal health monitoring programs.
- Record keeping as per CPCSEA guidelines.
- Generate, isolate and purify recombinant DNA constructs for generating transgenic mice
- Perform pronuclear microinjection, blastocyst injections, embryo transfers and survival surgeries
- Colony management, post-surgical animal monitoring and care
In addition to above, for MGEF, the following additional work will need to be performed:
- Perform CRISPR-Cas9 targeted gene disruptions and tagged alleles in mouse embryos
- Harvesting of mouse oocytes, blastocysts, other preimplantation embryos
- Coordinate and participate in the daily operations of the mouse genome engineering facility providing rederivation, genotyping and breeding services
- Accurate recording keeping
- Provide Hands on training and Virtual training on in-silico design and microinjection procedures
