I am the Group Leader, Neural Circuits and Development Lab, at NCBS. I graduated from Anna University, Chennai with a B.Tech in Biotechnology. I finished Ph.D in Neuroscience from Brandeis University, Waltham, MA and completed Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Neuroscience from the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Cold Spring Harbor, NY and the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD.

Throughout my research career, I have been interested in mechanisms that govern motor circuit function and development. I continue to focus on these topics in my lab at NCBS.

I have been awarded a Wellcome Trust - DBT India Alliance Intermediate Fellowship to fund my research.

I teach Basic Neurobiology at NCBS and also at the DST-sponsored SERB Schools in Neuroscience.

If I find any free time (of which lately there has been very little), I love to curl up with a book or solve Sudoku. I read fiction and non-fiction, English and Tamil. My favorite genre is humor and favorite author is Bhakkiam Ramasami.
