Funding Opportunities

The Centre for Brain and Mind (CBM) is an exciting new scientific venture of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the National Institute for Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), supported by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies.

CBM will undertake cutting-edge research around mental illness with the goal of discovering novel and better methods for the diagnosis and clinical management of mental illness in humans.

Towards this goal, CBM invites applications for Career Development (CD) Fellowships. CD Fellowships are available across the full spectrum of research being carried out at CBM although we are particularly interested in candidates with a focus on neurophysiology, data science, human genetics and neuroinflammation.

The competition is open to basic science or clinical researchers. You are eligible for the CD Fellowships if you are in the last year of PhD or MD, or have no more than 4 years’ experience post PhD/MD. The Fellowships will be hosted primarily at NCBS. There are no age or nationality restrictions. The applicant must be willing to relocate to NCBS Bengaluru to initiate the Fellowship.

The Fellowships have generous and flexible funds for research, competitive personal support and require 100% time commitment towards the fellowship project from the applicant. A hypothesis based research proposal is essential for the complete application, along with 2 letters of recommendation.

Allowances include 1 technical staff, consumables, equipment, travel costs and access to all institutional research facilities.

The application process requires the submission of a preliminary application. The application will be available for download starting 1 May 2024. The closing date for applications is 30 May 2024.
