Duration of the course:
12th Oct 2020 to 30th Dec 2020
Days: Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Credits: 4
Course Outline:

How is complexity is generated from a single cell? In this course, we introduce core concepts of Developmental Biology. The aim is to understand developmental strategies that nature uses to generate pattern and complexity. Why is development robust, and what happens when it isn’t? How does development generate "endless forms, more wonderful”.

Course outcome

  • Understand the mechanisms animal embryos employ to generate pattern and complexity

  • Understand the physical and biological basis for pattern and complexity

  • Identify common developmental mechanisms across different genre of animals and in different developing tissues

  • Extrapolate to generate hypotheses on how an unknown tissue may develop.
