Advt No.9/2024 : Appointment of a Project Scientist on fixed term basis

NCBS, in collaboration with TIGS, has embarked on a project to set up a clinical research platform, a dedicated end-to-end infrastructure, to work on infectious disease and neglected rare diseases, as part of a large scale translational health research using genomics and advanced cell biology. The project will focus on both in-house translational research and a collaborative services section to support product development efforts of govt. agencies, industry and start-ups. The facility covers work on virology, bacteriology, human immunology and RNA therapeutics and is designed to further strengthen national infectious and neglected rare disease priorities.
For this project, we invite applications from suitable candidates for the position of Project Scientist on a fixed-term basis. The position is based at NCBS and is available immediately for a period of up to one year, extendable based on review and funds availability. The successful candidate is expected to help set up clinical platform and infrastructure and work pipeline. The role requires the ability to work both independently and in teams.

Key duties of the Program Manager will include:

  •  Establishing biobank and other necessary infrastructure for clinical research.
  • Standardize hands-on laboratory work pipeline together with other colleagues including design, validation, documentation and troubleshooting of laboratory experiments.
  • Laboratory experiments may include, but not limited to Genome sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, genomics and data analytics to identify genetic correlates of rare diseases, immunological assays, tissue culture etc.
  •  While incumbent project scientist will handle the collaboration with clinicians, he/she is also expected to manage collaboration with data scientist, and other stake holders as well.
  • Ensuring the availability of all paper and electronic records relating to experiments performed. 
  • Preparing regular reports and summaries of the work performed.

Essential Qualification:

  •  MBBS with research experience or PhD in Biomedical sciences with relevant experience.
  • Experience in general molecular biology experiments, tissue culture, genomics etc and familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing.
  • Strong time-management and interpersonal skills. 
  • Should have initiative, enthusiasm and flexible approach to work

Age Limit: 45 years

Remuneration: Rs. 1.5 lakh per month (consolidated)
