Course Outline:

Different technical and conceptual developments in recent years (e.g. detailed video tracking of many animals, machine learning, molecular techniques) are changing the research approaches in the study of animal behavior. The course will try to give an overview of these developments via reading and discussing exemplary papers.

 

Course outcome:

  • Understand the history of methodology used to study animal behaviour

  • Critically evaluate methods used to study animal behaviour

  • Design experiments to understand animal behaviour

  • Understand analysis of data from experimental techniques.
