Abstract:
Objects carry traces of the past in the materiality, the technology or the function they are associated with. This panel discussion will initiate a conversation around the scrutiny of objects in their social and public lives in the present to understand the past. The panellists, who come from varied disciplines, are experts in unravelling and making visible different aspects of an object. We hope to move from the theoretical and experimental approaches, to arrive at an understanding that is culturally specific, yet universal.
