Research Interest
My project at NCBS aims at understanding the roles of low complexity domains of Ataxin-2 (Atx-2) protein in S2 cells using confocal microscopy. Low complexity domains have been proposed to be involved in messenger RiboNucleoProtein (mRNP) granule assembly. Deletion of the Atx-2 low complexity domains affects granule formation in S2 cells. Additionally, FRAP studies also show alteration of Atx-2 granule stability upon domain deletions. My broader research interests include quantitative cell biology and disease biology of the nervous system. Besides science, I am fond of Indian classical and progressive Carnatic rock music. When not in lab, I keep myself engaged listening to classical debating events over wide range of topics!
