Biosafety Level-2 Laboratory (BSL-2):

Biosafety Level-2 (BSL-2) facilities on campus are multi-user facilities, in which different specimens containing known Risk group-2 agents are handled. Applicants are oriented and trained about risks associated with experiments and assessed/evaluated through written examination before providing usership to BSL-2 laboratory facility.

There are 3 BSL2 facilities on campus, each dedicated for work involving different nature of BSL2 samples (PFB).

2 laboratories are equipped with Biosafety cabinets, CO2 incubators, centrifuges, Fluorescent microscope, refrigerators/freezers and storage units. The basic consumables required are also stocked within the facility for easy access. There is also a separate autoclave system for waste management, and users are asked to follow the guidelines with respect to disposal of hazardous wastes generated during experiments.
