For this BLiSC Science Cafe, we have Dr. Sunil Laxman of the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (DBT-inStem) as our speaker. He will be discussing the exciting ways organisms adapt to survive in extreme conditions.

Most cells and organisms live in conditions ideal for life - ambient temperature, sufficient water and food. But some organisms can survive and even thrive in extreme environments - high heat or cold, or where there is very little water. What is the biochemistry behind extreme life? Upto what extremes can life persist? In this session we will explore where life shouldn't exist, but does.
